Interactive Sound and Movement System (2020)

Tech: Max/MSP, Ableton, Kinect
Field: Sound Design, Interactive Media

empatisk: is a bachelor project that - with its interactive design - explores the cross-modal connection between sound and movement. Through computer vision, body movements are tracked and analyzed. The system does not focus on the individual movement but focuses - with inspiration from Laban Movement Analysis - on the emotional expressiveness within the movement sequences.

This is done for the system to be able to recognize emotional expressiveness and generate a suitable sound design to achieve a real-time emotional symbiosis between sound and movement.
